Step by step guide
1) Open space
Remember to remove obstacles like get all the furnishings out of the way. If there is some problem, use a crowbar. Even remove the doors as well that swing into the way. Get rid of dust to protect yourself from allergies.
2) Precautions
Wear a dust mask, gloves, and protective eye-wear. These are must to ward off the risks of allergy and asthma. Save your hands from staples, utility knife, and tack strips while cutting the carpet.
3) Start ripping off the carpet
First of all, take the help of pliers to loosen a corner. Start cutting the carpet into strips into the easy to handle size. Pull it back, fold it over, and cut with the utility knife. Be careful about protecting the floor beneath the carpet. Then, collect all the cut strips and take them out of the room.
4) Removing tack strips
Wear gloves for your hand protection. Use the crowbar to pry the tack strips off the floor. Also, remove thin pieces of wood studded with nails around the border of the room.
5) Pulling back carpet pad
Now it’s time to remove the carpet pad. Start from the corner and repeat the same process as you did with the carpet by folding the pad over and cutting it into strips. As it would be stapled, use a floor scraper or pliers to pull out staples and any glued pieces.
6) Clean up
Finally, you have tossed the rug out, but the stained floor has come out. Don’t worry. Start the clean-up of the floor by the professional service of the sanitation department or carpet removal and have a new look of your floor.
