Success is hard to predict but easy to define when you see it. Most of us only see the fruit that results after years of caretaking and cultivation. Those with an introspective vantage witness the tenacious dedication partnered with talent and skill that creates something of greatness. LBI Entertainment is known for representing this kind of deep and diverse talent. With a roster that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, Jennifer Lawrence, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio del Toro, Jamie Foxx, Jonah Hill, Justin Timberlake, and many more, the depth of talent at LBI is woven into the elite entertainment fabric on a global level. Australian actor Carter Dau is exceedingly pleased about being brought into this group and being represented by LBI. While his name may not be as instantly recognizable as the aforementioned luminaries, just wait a moment. This fourteen-year-old has some seriously impressive acting chops, undoubtably the reason that LBI acquired him. Having caught the attention of filmmakers like Ron Howard, Carter exhibits a quality not particularly ubiquitous in Hollywood, a discerning eye and vision for the type of roles he wants to be known for. It’s remarkable for someone of such a young age to value substance over attention, particularly in the age of social media. Carter Dau is a rare find; the sort of actor who understands both who he is and who he could be.

Carter caught the attention of many in the industry with his roles in films like Breaking Plans and Sugar Rag which showcased his ability to depict youth roles with substantial gravitas. While Disney and other major studios began auditioning him for roles in major films, LBI’s Pamela Fisher contacted Carter about being represented by the company. This is particularly momentous as LBI does not handle youth talent, at least not until the inclusion of Carter Dau into their roster. This makes a strong statement about what the company and many throughout the industry expect to see in the future with this remarkably talented actor.

For the young Mr. Dau, being a part of LBI places him within the orbit of some of the most revered talent in the film industry. It offers him the ability to access projects of the highest caliber and to work and learn from A-List directors, producers and actors in the industry. It will also refine his craft and open doors to serious roles. Carter sees the association as much more about community than advantageous maneuvering as he states, “LBI has so many admirable, incredibly creative artists on their books. I have always respected people who have given their all to get to where they want and to achieve their dreams. So many of LBI’s clients are more than actors and have been able to make so much more of their careers. I admire them for opening their own production companies. Some of them write, direct, produce, act, and there are musicians. I also love LBI because it is small and feels like there is always someone to help you through all the ups and downs of your career and the industry. There is so much combined experience between everyone there that I feel like I can truly learn and be the best at what I do. I take this very seriously and love the industry and the craft so so much. I am excited about where this journey is going to take me. I have a healthy respect for creative people. I’ve never been a ‘fan’, just really appreciated peoples’ journeys. It was a goal I set for myself to be represented by LBI and be a part of something with the artists whom I’ve always admired. I’m truly happy that this goal was achieved.”

Comparisons to Mr. DiCaprio, who also attained notoriety as a young actor, are unavoidable.  Carter also points to inspiration from those like Reese Witherspoon who has focused on producing and championing films with strong female leads, thereby altering the course of a substantial part of the industry. Using his voice is a position Carter eagerly embraces. He comments, “I would love to pursue something similar to a Stand by Me like film. Something that is relatable, iconic, and stands the test of time. Where some troubled kids get to both overcome lots of problems and go on an adventure type plot. The basic genre would be a ‘Coming of Age’ type film with some drama and other aspects. I would really like to work on a project like the script I wrote.”
