The secret to any organisation’s success is the right people on the bus and wrong people off the bus, opined American business consultant, author, and lecturer Jim Collins. Organisations would recruit individuals for new business opportunities and or upgrading their existing workforce. The rule of thumb for the employer is always simple – choose a candidate whose return on investment is the best for the organisation.
The work environment has been undergoing dramatic changes in recent days. “As the world is flat”, a successful organisation must be able to compete in a global market place. It must be agile, innovative and highly productive. The new technologies like Analytics, Machine Learning, Big Data, Artificial intelligence, are becoming an integral part of work culture of the enterprises. The employees, enterprises hire, must be able to adopt and excel in the changing environment.
College Grade Point Average (GPAs) and reputations are not the sole criteria for selection. Employers are looking for passionate individuals who will be team players, problem solvers, effective communicators with strong work ethics. No job is tailor-made for a prospective hire or vice-versa.
