The profession of law has undergone many strategic changes over the last few decades. Today law aspirants not only want to see themselves in the courts but also in various corporate houses, law firms, administrative services, law agencies and many more. Law is no more a family profession but anyone with a passion for this field can opt for the course.

A huge population of aspirants appears for the LLB entrance examinations every year. As a law aspirant, everyone must be aware of the CLAT examinations as it is the most popular LLB entrance examination. Everyone must also have started taking CLAT coaching classes as it is very much needed to crack it. Apart from CLAT, there are other LLB entrance examinations like SET, LSAT, CET, AILET that are conducted by different universities. One such is the DU LLB entrance examination. Today we are going to have a rough outline of the examination.

Eligibility

  • Any student having a graduate or post-graduate degree from Delhi University or any other recognized Foreign or Indian University is eligible to apply.
  • Students should have 50% marks or equivalent grade points in aggregate.
  • SS/ST students with 40% marks are eligible to appear for the examination.
  • Lower age limit is 21 years and there is no upper age limit.

Examination Syllabus

DU LLB entrance examination has one paper comprising of five sections. They are:

  1. English Grammar and Comprehension- This section includes comprehension related questions, synonyms, and antonyms, idioms and phrases, jumbled sentences, one-word substitutes, the odd one out, etc.
  2. Elementary Mathematics- This section includes preliminary mathematics questions up to 10th standard. It mainly includes questions from profit and loss, speed, distance and time, average, simplification, etc.
  3. General Knowledge with Current Affairs- This section includes all science, history, geography, literature, economics-related questions. Questions on the last year’s current affairs are also asked.
  4. Logical Reasoning- It includes questions on directions, coding, and decoding, relations, etc.
  5. Legal Aptitude- This section includes questions based on the Constitution, fundamental rights and duties, principles and reasoning, powers of President, Vice-President, Prime-Minister, Governor(Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha), basics of civil and criminal law, etc.

Examination Pattern

  • There will be a total of 175 objective type questions which are to be solved in 120 minutes. Each questions having four options of answers.
  • Each question carries 4 marks and a negative marking of 1 for every wrong answer.
  • There will be 25-30 questions from the English section, 30 questions from the General Knowledge section, 10-15 questions from the Elementary mathematics section, 20 questions from the Logical Reasoning section and 85-90 questions from the Legal Aptitude section.

Preparation Tips

  • Start preparing for the examination beforehand. 4 to 5 months is enough for covering the syllabus.
  • For better results join a coaching institute. They provide the right study material and guidance needed to crack the DU LLB entrance examination.
  • Do a lot of self-study. Practice from the previous years’ questions papers.
  • Time management is important as you have only 120 minutes to solve 175 questions. Practice questions with the help of a timer.
  • Follow newspapers and magazines on a regular basis. It will not only help you in the GK section but also in the English section.
