Still if you feel the need for assistance from someone, you can call a friend on weekend to help you out in the accomplishment of this task. In order to carry out the project of faux rock installation, you have to follow certain instructions and keep in mind certain tips.

Step 1: Taking measurements of the whole area:

The first step in the project of faux rock installation is making accurate measurements. Measure the whole area of the wall where the faux rock is needed to be installed. First, you have to measure the area of the wall. Then you can take these measurements to the home improvement center. The experts over there can give you an estimate of the things you will need for the installation of the faux rock.

Step 2: Preparation of wall for faux rock installation:

The next step is to prepare the wall for the purpose of installation of the faux rock. For this purpose, you have to first strip off the old siding on the wall. Also remove the old sheathing which makes the base of the old siding. After that, the next step is installing the vapor barrier on the wall. After installation of the vapor barrier, you have to make sure that it covers all the edges up to at least 4 inches. Asphalt paper can serve as an excellent source of the vapor barrier. The vapor barrier handles the shingles well and it can also be directly fixed to the sheathing as well.

Step 3: Chicken wire installation:

The very next step is the installation of the chicken wire also known as the wire lath on the wall. This is installed over the vapor barrier and the asphalt paper sheathing. In order to install the chicken wire, you have to use the galvanized screws because these screws resist corrosion very effectively.  The chicken wire is installed partially on the screws and then the screws are completely fixed over the sheet of chicken wire.

Step 4: Mixing of mortar for faux rock installation:

After the chicken ire is installed, the mortar is mixed well. The application of mortar is done by means of a trowel. It is advised to spread the thin layer of mortar over the surface of the wall over which the faux rock can be fixed.

Step 5: Application of faux rocks:

After the mortar is applied to the thickness of about an inch, the faux rock is applied and it is fixed in the form of panels. After placing the panels in a position it is necessary to press them a little so that these are fixed firmly on the wall.

The task of installation of faux rock is not difficult. It only requires a little perfection along with the detailed work and assistance by some expert siding contractors.
