How to translate once ideas into personal jewelry?

Author : ajay pats

This article briefly talks about how to translate once imagination into beautiful customdesigned jewelry.

Tiffany, Cartier, Faberge and Boucheron were all well known impresarios in the world of high fashion jewelry design. Many of the jewels these master jewelers created were often privately commissioned to commemorate a special person or event. Among those special people were the Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers and Czar Nicholas of Russia. The special events commemorated were often marriages, anniversaries and birthdays.

But you don't have to be the Czar of Russia, own a luxurious yacht, or eat caviar at the Ritz to work with a jeweler and create a beautiful custom design jewel. All you need is imagination, an appreciation of fine jewelry, and a stylish sense of adventure.

When you create a custom design piece of jewelry, you and the jeweler must consider three critical elements: the design, the gemstones and metals, and the craftsmanship: 1. The design must be a personal expression of your tastes and life style. You should work with a jeweler who will listen and help you interpret and enhance your ideas. Be wary of the "jewelry designer" who "knows exactly what you need" or works from a catalog of overdone commercial designs.

2. The quality and beauty of the gemstones and precious metals used in a custom design jewel is critical. Proper selection of the materials will have a tremendous impact on the longevity, beauty and value of your design. It is often wise to work with an independent gemologist who can help you locate and acquire the best gemstones for your design and within your budget.

3. Once you have decided upon a design and selected the best gemstones and metals, you need to find a goldsmith who can translate your vision into a jewel of stunning beauty. Unfortunately, not all goldsmiths are equal....there are many "craftsman" who skimp not just on the quality of the materials, but also on the time and labor needed to create a fine jewel. Be careful! When looking for a goldsmith, do not hesitate to examine examples of their work and to request references.

A truly great piece of jewelry is created when the best design, materials and craftsmanship are brought together. At Bijoux Extraordinaire we work with you to translate your ideas and passions into a jewel of lasting beauty, value and personal sentiment
