Be safe on your Ladder!

Author : SKY

Of all the things that are essential to have around a home, at the top of the list would be a good ladder. Ladders are needed more often than you may think. Even in a small apartment, there are top shelves to reach and light bulbs to replace, that require a handy step ladder. If you have a larger place, and especially if you have land to care for, the needs for a ladder can be endless.

There are many types of ladders, and many people feel it necessary to keep more than one on hand. Extension ladders can be made to reach greater heights, but then will reduce in size for easy storage. Step-ladders stand on their own, without needing a wall for support. Newer fiberglass ladders are light and strong, and the leading choice of professionals. Aluminum is equally strong and light, and resistant to corrosion. Wooden ladders are more economical, and work very well in most cases.

There are a few basic guidelines to using ladders safely. Always make sure the ladder is placed securely, and don’t stand on the very top step. Don't exceed the weight capacity. Keep your body centered, without reaching too far to one side. With reasonable care, your ladder should serve you well over the years.
